Today was the third round of the NorCal League series. The race was at Fort Ord for the second time this season, due to trail closures of Toro Park, the original location for the race to be held. Going into this race, I had a 2/2 hold on the leaders jersey, and was looking to win today's race as well. The start of the race was a one minute long dirt and gravel single track trail that ended up at the top of the first climb. From the start, I sprinted and got in the lead and hammered all the way up to the top of the climb. Once at the top, i turned around and had separated myself from the pack, with the exception of my team mate Alex Akins. Myself and Alex went through the first lap more or less together. The first lap was very congested with very few spots to pass, and i decided that i would make a break off the front during the second lap. A short time after crossing the line to go for our second and final lap, I started pushing even harder and separated myself from Alex. Passing was much easier second lap, and I made my way through the other divisions that had started before us. I sprinted for the line, and I ended up finishing nearly a minute and a half in front of the second place rider. I am very happy to attain a stronger hold on the leaders jersey, and I am looking forward to the next NorCal League race at Granite Bay, where I plan on getting a permanent hold on the leaders jersey!
