Today, I raced the second NorCal High School Series Race of the 2017 season. I went into the race with the leaders jersey and an insane amount of stoke, which I had gained from winning the first race of the NorCal series. I started the race by leading the sprint up the starter hill, a steep gravel road that leads to the start of the dirt. I reached the start of the dirt in the front, leading the whole shot. I went off of the front of the pack, with my team mate Alex Akins on my wheel. We quickly made a gap on the group and on the downhill we kept a fast pace and passed as many people in the divisions that started before us. Once we reached the climb, a steep, rutted double track trail, I grinded on and made a gap between me and Alex. I held the gap for the rest of race. Mid way through my second lap, I passed the other group of freshman, the d1 category, that started a couple minutes before us. In the end I finished the race in 40 minutes with the second place finisher about two minutes behind. I am very excited to hold on to the leaders jersey, and I am looking forward to the next NorCal League Series Race where I plan on keeping a hold of the leaders jersey
